He executes justice for the oppressed and gives food to the hungry. The LORD sets prisoners free, the LORD gives sight to the blind, he lifts up those who are bowed down, the LORD loves those who live justly. The LORD watches over the immigrant and sustains the fatherless and the widow, but he frustrates the ways of the wicked. -Psalm 146:7-9

Calling All Prayer Warriors

Hey friends,
If you don't mind, would you please keep us in your prayers this week and the weeks to come? Here are a few prayer request:

1. As a ministry we would always strive to make the Lord's name famous and not our own. All Glory to Him for all the great things that are being accomplished on Montgomery's Westside through Common Ground Montgomery.
2. Before you pray for our safety and the safety of our kids in this "dangerous" neighborhood, would you first pray that Christ name would be magnified, that God's kingdom would advance here, and that as a staff we would preach the gospel with BOLDNESS!
3.That our marriages and children would always be our first priority and that we would guard our times with them well!
4. Strong Tower @Washington Park (our church plant) pray for our leaders, future deacons and elders. Pray that God would reach the nations with gosple through this small church plant and through this community of believers. Our Senior Pastor is finishing up seminary and will be here in July..please read his family blog to know how to pray for their family specifically. Go here! Pray as well for our associate pastor and his family, they have a home that needs to sell ASAP in order for them to move into our hood. We are begging God for a miracle, we are praying that his home will sell before the summer and God will provide a place for them on the west side. Please join us!
5.WE need more tutors for our after school program. Pray for laborers in the harvest.
6. For the hearts of our kids. (salvation)
7.For the staff to persevere through hardships and to always be reminded of the eternal perspective in ministry. We plant seeds, God causes them to GROW! Pray for our Unity as well as we continue to labor along side one another!
8.Support, Support, Support! WE need money in order to help minister the way we do. Pray God will provide more supporters to invest in our ministry.
9. That we would mightily witness the  Holy Spirit work in our community in a strong way!
10. That we would love Justice, show mercy and always WALK HUMBLY with our God. (Micah 6:8)

Seeds Of Hope

Me- "Cha -Cha, can you tell me why I named the garden Seeds Of Hope, read the sign for clues"

Cha- Cha-"Well, I would say because, people always see the bad here from t.v. or the newspaper, but the garden can be like a way for them to see there is good here. We can have hope, in dat, things wont always be bad, good can come from our neighborhood too."

I love the promise that is given in Joel 2:25-26. I believe it it a promise that can still be used today. We serve a God who is in the business of redeeming all that was and is lost and broken. When I look around my hood sometimes I see mounds of hopelessness. Even today, I had a precious woman/friend encourage me not to give into the hopelessness I see. She encouraged me to trust and believe in a God that is BIG and full of HOPE. I found myself overwhelmed with tears this afternoon as the construction for our community garden came to a close. There is still a little more work to be done but the best part is complete. I explained in detail to Cha Cha that day how I believed that this garden will work as a reminder to us of the difficulties of ministry as well as the joys of seeing fruit come to pass after months and years of laboring. I explained to her how here in the garden we plant seeds to bring fruit to eat, yet, as a ministry God has called us here to plant seeds that will hopefully one day produce spiritual fruit in the lives of all those we minister to.

My prayer is that God will use this garden to advance His kingdom and that many on the westside of Montgomery,AL will hear and be exposed to the truth of the gospel. I pray that hope will reign here,  and that all the years that the principalities of this world have tried to use racism, oppression, abuse, drugs, rape, sodomy, fatherlessness, poverty to destroy those around me, will end with restoration. God can restore all that was once lost. The same God that made that promise in Joel thousands of years ago is the same God we serve today. He is  Jehovah-Shammah, as well as El-Elyon!
What a reminder.

“I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten—the great locust and the young locust, the other locusts and the locust swarm— my great army that I sent among you. You will have plenty to eat, until you are full, and you will praise the name of the LORD your God, who has worked wonders for you; never again will my people be shamed."
-Joel 2:25-26

March Madness

Spring break was a very busy time around here. New Community garden, Spring VBS done by a church group from Oklahoma (amazing!), we also put together a mini retreat for the middle school kids, entitled "Girls (or Boys) Gone Wise" which included: fun activities, skits and devotionals to teach them how to discern between a wise and foolish person. We even purchased 10 chickens for the garden area!

Its 1:30am and I wish I could go on, but I can't.  Terribly miss blogging, things are finally starting to slow down,  and when they do, I promise I will be back more often, until then, enjoy the pics below.
