Father please forgive me for all those things I believe would bring me satisfaction and fulfillment. May I return to my first love which is Jesus and serve HIM and HIM alone. You are more than enough. Amen.
I am soo enjoying my Sabbath day! I have been laying here on my sofa reading materials on gardening and thinking about today's sermon. The Lord is good my friends. As I sat here I was thinking.. I need to journal what is happening with our community garden thus far. Just to fill you in, I just got a generous donation of $2000 dollars from Southern Homes and Gardens!! All donations will help us purchase
plants, soil, tools, fertilizers, and such for our gardening efforts! I am so thankful for the LORD and HIS provision thus far for this community! This Saturday we will begin our first phase by laying raised beds, other various plants, and vegetables.
Last week I went door to door in our community passing out fliers and a garden survey just to inform my neighbors what we plan on doing and what would be available to them. Many were very excited and communicated interest in wanting to be on board. That is exactly what I wanted! I want them to come along side me and do this as well. Did I tell how excited I was???
Lastly, one of my best friends helped me pick a name and we have chosen to name our garden 'Seeds Of Hope'. Is this not perfect??!!
But the needy will not always be forgotten, nor the hope of the afflicted ever perish.
We wait in hope for the LORD; he is our help and our shield.
We want those in our community to remember that the LORD cares and that there is HOPE for them. Hope for their children, Hope for their neighborhood, HOPE for their health, most importantly HOPE in them believing GOD is who HE says He is, and knowing JESUS died for their salvation and wants to redeem this community. Please continue to pray for us as we seek to minister the gospel holistically.

By MARIAN WRIGHT EDELMAN
We pray for children
Who sneak popsicles before supper,
Who erase holes in math workbooks,
Who can never find their shoes.
And we pray for those
Who stare at photographers from behind barbed wire,
Who can't bound down the street in a new pair of sneakers,
Who never "counted potatoes,"
Who are born in places we wouldn't be caught dead,
Who never go to the circus,
Who live in an X-rated world.
We pray for children
Who bring us sticky kisses and fistfuls of dandelions,
Who hug us in a hurry and forget their lunch money.
And we pray for those
Who never get dessert,
Who have no safe blanket to drag behind them,
Who watch their parents watch them die,
Who can't find any bread to steal,
Who don't have any rooms to clean up,
Whose pictures aren't on anybody's dresser,
Whose monsters are real.
We pray for children
Who spend all their allowance before Tuesday,
Who throw tantrums in the grocery store and pick at their food,
Who like ghost stories,
Who shove dirty clothes under the bed and never rinse out the tub,
Who get visits from the tooth fairy,
Who don't like to be kissed in front of the carpool,
Who squirm in church or temple and scream in the phone,
Whose tears we sometimes laugh at and whose smiles can make us cry.
And we pray for those
Whose nightmares come in the daytime,
Who will eat anything,
Who have never seen a dentist,
Who aren't spoiled by anybody,
Who go to bed hungry and cry themselves to sleep,
Who live and move, but have no being.
We pray for children who want to be carried and for those who must,
For those we never give up on and for those who don't get a second chance.
For those we smother ... and for those who will grab the hand of anybody kind enough to offer it.
Amen...Have a hopeful and thankful weekend friends :)

Lover Of My Soul
Song By: Shelly Nirider
It's all about You, Jesus
And all this is for You
For Your glory and your fame
It's not about me
As if You should do things my way
You alone are God
And I surrender to your ways
Jesus, lover of my soul
All consuming fire is in Your gaze
Jesus, I want you to know
I will follow you all my days
For no one else in history is like you
And history itself belongs to you
Alpha and Omega, You have loved me
And I will share eternity with You

Lord, we have no idea what you are doing. Why now? Why now have so many want to hear our stories?? WE TRUST that you are sovereign and that you are good...Your desire is that your NAME be GLORIFIED among the nations..and JESUS we desire to do just that..at the end of the day, we want all the attention to go to you and no one else. WE are humbled that you would want to use sinners such as us, yet, we are thankful for the privilege to share YOUR VISION and LOVE with the WORLD! May many come enter into a personal relationship with you through this.We also pray that our hood be transformed for the sake of the gospel!

"We do need to be born again, since Jesus said that to a guy named Nicodemus. But if you tell me I have to be born again to enter the Kingdom of God, I can tell you that you have to sell everything you have and give it to the poor, because Jesus said that to one guy, too. But I guess that's why God invented highlighters, so we can highlight the parts we like and ignore the rest."
— Shane Claiborne (The Irresistible Revolution: Living as an Ordinary Radical)
Why is that so?? How in the world do we manage to say we read the bible yet, go against some of the very things that JESUS himself preached on?? Why is it so many believe living in the hood is much more dangerous or more "holy" vs living in Africa and doing the LORD's work?? Hmmmmm
You know, we my husband and I knew from the beginning that we ( we meaning staff or whomever decided to get involved) would face opposition of SOME sorts when we decided to follow the Lord's calling. I have been reminded so much over the past couple of weeks, this battle that we are in is no earthly battle. The war is between two kingdoms. As I was visiting a friend over the weekend I walked away with a couple of reminders: opposition is good. Persecution is GREAT(hahah, yea, I said it) Oh, and suffering, suffering is fantastic!!
Whenever you decided to LIVE counter CULTURAL you will be persecuted. Whether you decided to live counter cultural in your parenting, the way you love your husband, take care of your home, love your neighbors, corporate worship( oh, especially this one- because you know how we can tend to get a bit legalistic in how we believe one should worship the LORD, but that's another topic!!!!) to where you DECIDE to live or people you hang out with for ministry purposes. Man, you will be PERSECUTED, and that my friend REALLY is a great thing.
Now, I only believe so because of what the bible says in 1 Peter 3
Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble. Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing .For, "Whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech.
He must turn from evil and do good; he must seek peace and pursue it. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous
and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil."Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good? But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. "Do not fear what they fear; do not be frightened." But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. It is better, if it is God's will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.
I was telling a friend a while back that, "I don't want to be like this world. I don't want to look like a "normal" christian.. I really want to stand out.." I want to REBEL against the culture, not conforming to the ways and patterns of this world, but to be transformed by the renewing of my mind. I know its hard, I will be the one to admit, that, persecution,( and let me just throw in parenting while I am at it..ahahha) which is a part of our sanctification is not comfortable. But isn't that the point of it all
for us not to be so comfortable with this life here. Not hold such relationships, people, so dear, so close, to our hearts. Christ wants that spot, and dog on it, I am so ready to give it to HIM...COMPLETELY!!
I was listening to a sermon on 1 Peter 4 by John Piper that said:
"Arm yourselves also with the same purpose, because he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin." I'm not completely sure, but I believe what this means is that if you trust God enough to suffer for doing what is right (as 3:17 says), then you have made a decisive break with sin.
In other words, choose suffering because if you don't, you will choose sin. But if you do, you will prove that your bondage to sin has been broken. Get the thought and the purpose in your head that Christ is worth suffering for; live out that conviction when the choice comes between suffering and sin; and in suffering sin will be defeated and you will be triumphant. If you come to the point where you suffer for righteousness' sake, you have ceased from sin—not perfection, but a clean break with the past of sin."
We are called to suffer, this is the calling of a disciple of Christ. We will suffer in our parenting, in our relationships with others, with our finances and with our possessions. We will be persecuted, the question is not "will we", but when. But when we do, I desire to do it without complaining, and with gentleness towards those involved. Not looking for the FASTEST and EASY way out. For all of our sufferings, and persecutions are ordained by the LORD. And as a friend reminded me before she left my home, all of these trying times are times to show our children, and others what a REAL christian and most importantly JESUS looks like! Oh how I long for us to be like the saints in the bible :(
My prayer and exhortation to us all (including myself) is for us all is to grow deep and strong by also embracing the teachings we are not comfortable with and that are hard to understand with the confidence that God has not taught us anything false or harmful in the Scriptures.

Then Job replied to the LORD :"I know that you can do all things; no plan of yours can be thwarted. You asked, 'Who is this that obscures my counsel without knowledge?' Surely I spoke of things I did not understand; things too wonderful for me to know."You said, 'Listen now, and I will speak; I will question you, and you shall answer me.' My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you. Therefore I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes."

This song brings me to tears, as I want to yell when I think about the battle that is going on around me. This song and Ephesians 6 helps me to makes sense of alot of trials that are happening in my life right now. You can hear the song on my song player to the right.
I hope it encourages you.
There is a battle going on
Unlike anything we’ve ever seen before
It’s not about flesh and blood, man against man,
No, no – it’s a spiritual war
You won’t find it on the headlines or watch it on the late night news
Most people live unaware
Unaware of a supernatural world where demons and angels
War for the heart of man
And I am a part of this, joined with the angels
With sword and shield in hand, by word and faith
I’LL FIGHT TIL THE LAST DAY OF MY LIFE
AND I WON’T STAY DOWN IF I FALL DOWN, NO, NO, NO
I’LL FIGHT, I’LL FIGHT
GET UP AND FIGHT
Sometimes it feels like I can’t stand up
Cause I didn’t pull the trigger enough
Didn’t hold my ground
And I got off track, caught off guard
Blindsided and shot down
But that was the beginning when
My eyes were opened
There in my weakness
Strength was made perfect
I HAVE LOST SOME BATTLES
MORE THAN I CARE TO KEEP TRACK OF
BUT SOMEHOW I’M STILL IN IT
SOMEHOW GRACE FINDS ME AND LIFTS ME UP
YOU HAVE SEALED YOUR PROMISE IN ME
THE GUARANTEE THAT I AM LOVED
I’M ON THE WINNING SIDE OF A WAR
THAT HAS BEEN ALREADY WON
Being a mom is the most amazing, yet, one of many challenging, weary, CHRIST exalting things we will ever do! I know for many, Mothers Day may be a very emotional day due to the hard labor of parenting..but God is able to make all grace abound to you, to us, in this season of life. Please read this and this and know God sovereignly allowed me to post these links because HE cares for you and understands how hard it is to do what He has called us to do! He promises to NEVER leave us nor forsake us with these children. He has called us all for such a time as this. I am praying that the Lord protects us tomorrow from grumbling, complaining hearts over our calling. I was encouraged by this quote by Piper that reminded me of a conversation I had with a close friend of mine yesterday...
"To be a mother is a call to suffer. Not just at the beginning of life, but also at the end. Simeon said to Mary, Jesus' mother, "Behold, this Child is appointed for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and for a sign to be opposed - and a sword will pierce even your own soul" (Luke 2:34-35). Mothers suffer when their children are born. Mothers suffer when children leave them and go to the mission field. Mothers suffer when their children die. Mothers suffer when their children are foolish. "A wise son makes a father glad, but a foolish son is a grief to his mother" (Proverbs 10:1). To be a mother is a call to suffer."
Two verses that always come to my mind first in my sufferings:
Since we have a great high priest, Jesus, the Son of God, who has passed through the heavens [or: gone into heaven], let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tested as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
1 Peter 4:12-19
Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you; but to the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing; so that also at the revelation of His glory, you may rejoice with exultation. If you are reviled for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. By no means let any of you suffer as a murderer, or thief, or evildoer, or a troublesome meddler; but if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not feel ashamed, but in that name let him glorify God. For it is time for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God? And if it is with difficulty that the righteous is saved, what will become of the godless man and the sinner? Therefore, let those also who suffer according to the will of God entrust their souls to a faithful Creator in doing what is right.
"The degrees of suffering and the forms of affliction will differ for every one of us. But one thing we will all have in common till Jesus comes: we will all die. We will come to that awesome moment of reckoning. If you have time, you will see your whole life played before you as you ponder if it has been well-spent. You will tremble at the unspeakable reality that in just moments you will face God. And the destiny of your soul will be irrevocable.
Will you rejoice in that hour? You will if you entrust your soul to a faithful Creator. He created your soul for his glory. He is faithful to that glory and to all who love it and live for it. Now is the time to show where your treasure is—in heaven or on earth. Now is the time to shine with the glory of God. Trust him. And keep on rejoicing. "
Oh I pray you are encouraged!!! Happy Mothers Day friends! Grace and Mercy to you all :)

It's been raining fish and chips here in the south!! (well, you know.. i didn't want to say cats and dogs) Today as I sat at the computer listening to music thinking about the goodness of the LORD there was such a depressing overcast. As I looked up at the sky I was thinking, "Lord, this is what our hood looks like so many times, so dark, so depressing." I wake up some mornings thinking when will it all end, the poverty, the murders, the teen pregnancies, the rapes, the drugs, so many wasted lives, so many drug addicts walking up and down the streets night after night after night..Then, all of a sudden, the sun comes out...my mind begins to shift..the SON did come..to put a end to the darkness, the overcast...the depression. The Son, so full of LIGHT, Light that cannot live in darkness..where darkness cannot live...The Son who brings Hope..I am thankful for this moment for this ray of light the LORD allowed me to witness as I sat here. These days will soon come to a end... my hood will one day be completely REDEEMED...no need for missionaries, no need for community revitalization... For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
I am looking forward to living all eternity in The city that does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp.- Revelation 21:23

"Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ."- Galatians 6:2
We need your prayers friends. We have so many deadlines and changes happening within our ministry and families that things are beginning to be a bit overwhelming. In a good way of course.
1.We would like for you to pray for all our new staff. Ideally we would like to find some property in our community and renovate it for a family to live in, the problem with this is trying to locate who owns it and find out if they are interested in selling. This process can take a while, so, what we need is a place for our new staff to live while all of this takes place. Please pray that the LORD will provide immediate housing for our new staff during this time of transitioning. One family has renters who are ready to move into their new house, but they cant move until we come up with a place for them to stay.
2. The Kellys have given birth to a beautiful baby boy. Welcome Benjamin Lee Kelly! Please pray to the LORD for grace and wisdom for Delta and Bryan (creator of ministry) as they try to manage kids, ministry work and parenting. They are great and I am seeing the LORD answer many of my prayers over them. I am sure you moms can relate to this season of life being much of a challenge. Please visit her blog from time to time to offer up any words of encouragement or prayers whenever you can. She would love to hear from you. :)
3. Our Ministry Building- I can not EVEN tell you the MANY NEEDS we have for this building. One mainly being FINANCES. We are VERY much short the money we need for this space to be open in June in order to use this space for our summer camps. PLEASE pray the LORD provided the finances we need to complete this building.
4. Lastly, please pray for us as a staff that we continue to look towards the hills which comes our help. We trust and believe that GOD Is SOVEREIGN and that He will brings all these things to past in HIS providential timing. Please pray that we make our doctrine practical be living and believing that through this time.

“The reason there is so much misery in marriage is not that husbands and wives seek their own pleasure, but that they do not seek it in the pleasure of their spouses. The biblical mandate to husband and wives is to seek your own joy in the joy of your spouse.
“Husbands should devote the same energy and time and creativity to making their wives happy that they devote naturally to making themselves happy. The result will be that in doing this they will make themselves happy. For he who loves his wife loves himself. Since the wife is one flesh with her husband, the same applies to her love for him.”
“Husbands and wives, recognize that in marriage you have become one flesh. If you live for your private pleasure at the expense of your spouse, you are living against yourself and destroying your joy. But if you devote yourself with all your heart to the holy joy of your spouse, you will also be living for your joy and making a marriage after the image of Christ and His church.”
