He executes justice for the oppressed and gives food to the hungry. The LORD sets prisoners free, the LORD gives sight to the blind, he lifts up those who are bowed down, the LORD loves those who live justly. The LORD watches over the immigrant and sustains the fatherless and the widow, but he frustrates the ways of the wicked. -Psalm 146:7-9

When Helping Hurts By Steve Corbett & Brian Fikkert

A Joy Angels Will Never Know

We are now capable of a joy which unfallen spirits could not have known: the bliss of pardoned sin, the heaven of deep conscious obligation to eternal mercy. The bonds which bind redeemed ones to their God are the strongest which exist.

What a joy it will be to love the Lord more than any other of His creatures, and assuredly we shall do so. Do not think that this is an unwarrantable assertion, for I feel sure that it is the truth. Do you not read in the gospels of a woman who washed the Savior’s feet with tears and wiped them with the hairs of her head, and anointed them with ointment? Did not the Savior say that she loved much because she had much forgiven? I take it that the same general principle will apply to all places, to eternity as well as to time, and therefore I believe that forgiven sinners will have a love to God and to His Christ such as cherubim and seraphim never felt; Gabriel cannot love Jesus as a forgiven man will do.

Those who have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb will be nearer and dearer to Him, and He will be nearer and dearer to them, than all the ministering spirits before the throne, for He took upon Him our nature and not theirs.”

Charles Spurgeon, “Honey from a Lion” (sermon on Romans 5:15)

Choosing Gratitude

Its great to be back home. Kevin and I were so excited to see Kai. She really is a blessing and so much fun to be around. When we walked in the door last night we were greeted with balloons, flowers and a huge WELCOME HOME sign she and aunt Jo Jo made while we were away. Instructing and training this little girl in righteousness has not been easy, yet I would not trade it for anything in the world. I have learned, that most of the frustrations that I have dealt with in my parenting was due to my own sins. yuck! I am so impatient, quick to get angry, and very controlling. I am so thankful that the LORD does not deal with us according to our sins. I am just as thankful that He has promised to complete this great work He is producing in me. I am growing in what it means to ENJOY my little girl. She really is not a big hassle. Its me and my perfectionism that tends to mess things up. She is getting so BIG! Kai will be turning seven in February. She is doing great in homeschooling, she enjoys her ballet and art classes, she gets super excited about going to the bible studies I teach in the neighborhood. This girl LOOOOVES HER BIBLES!!! She is spending time in the word everyday (and she reads her bible on her own before bed), now I don't say this to make you think I am doing something fantastic over here, or for you to comment and tell me how great of a parent I am,( please don't get it twisted..ahaha) I am simply writing this because I want to remind myself of the things GOD, I will say his name again...GOD is doing in the heart of a sinner. I pray everyday that her heart does not turn to idols, and that she does not fall in love with this fallen world, but with this AMAZING, HOLY, POWERFUL and SOVEREIGN GOD that created her in His image. I am choosing gratitude over the life of my miracle child.

Thank you LORD for such a precious gift. I pray we steward over her well.
Amen.

I know Who I Am

One of the things I have always struggled with as a Christian is who I am in Christ. I have a huge tendency to gaze intently at others and their lives...their talents, their gifts, their children, their body types, the way they steward their homes, ect, ect, ect. I have talked myself in believing the LIE that the Lord, let alone my husband would never really accept me as I am. I have made God out to be a liar, and his word not TRUTH, all from seeds of doubt that I have feed, and watered over the course of time. I finally am coming to the point where enough is enough. I am really trying to go hard in my walk with Christ where I am not ashamed to share with Kevin or close friends my struggles. Honesty and Humility is truly the pathway to revival. I believe there is some AMAZING GRACE waiting there for me. This past week at the conference a friend of ours lead us in praise and worship. The Song was I know Who I Am by Israel & New Breed Feat. Chris Tomlin. The words just spoke so much truth over me. This song as well as various verses on who the LORD say that I am in Him will be my meditation until my mind is renewed. I really have to believe all that I say that I believe. This walk is a beast!!! Praise God its possible through HIM!! Now if you will... I need to print the list below :)

Well, we are at the end of the CCDA Conference and my goodness what a ending it was. I have to give a shout to Lenitia and John Fix as well as Trey and Melissa Hill. I am so glad I had the chance to see you both, what AMAZING COUPLES YOU ARE! :)

"If we really love our neighbor as ourselves capitalism won't be possible and Marxism won't be necessary."

"The story of vineyard workers: God's justice doesn't always look fair, but God is always good"

"Simplicity is rooted in the theology of enough"

Then Sings My Soul Saturdays- Love Justice

He has shown all you people what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8

I am in the beautiful city of Cincinnati attending the CCDA Conference. One of the many highlights for me is the music. Every year we have the privilege of a special multi -racial band leading us into worship. That band is Foster. Foster began as a response to a deep history of cultural and racial division in the present world, and a lack of social action among people of faith. As it unifies people through music, Foster seeks to inspire people to be godly instruments of love and peace in a world of poverty, sickness, and injustice.

There is one song in particular that I cant wait to hear and that is... Love Justice. Love Justice was written by Brian Wu and Matt Lundgren. They are half of Foster. From what I have heard and read.. They have a desire to awaken the church to compassion, mercy and justice. Love Justice is just one example of how they hope to inspire people to be agents of social change.Foster aspires to be bridge builders in areas of culture and racial division. Their music reflects this aspiration in the multi-cultural approach of their EP, A World that Barely Breathes. They hope to inspire people to broaden their worship language. To increase their God vocabulary. And to inspire us to not just engage in a moment of worship but to live our lives as worship.

My knees shake at the sound of this song and my soul cries out for justice for this wicked and perverse generation. Here is the mp3 link to the song if you want to listen. May I suggest before you do..... take some time and meditate and pray through the lyrics.

Oh, how powerful they are!!!

Love Justice Lyrics:

Take our lives Lord
Take our moments and our days..
We offer them to You, we offer them in ceaseless praise

Take our hands Lord
Take our feet and let them be
A sacrifice to You...A sacrifice for those in need..

Take our Love Lord
Take our silver take our gold
And we pray to see...your Kingdom in this world

Chorus
We will love justice, show mercy, walk humbly with our God

Repeat from Top

Bridge
Justice.....Mercy...Humbly with our God....

If I aint seeing Christ potna I dont wanna see no mo
Rep every day withouth worrying about bruising
I been to china mayne I seen some real persecution
If U didn't know em would ya life look the same
Can they tell you value Jesus by the way you rep his name?

That mean that we, should be out up in ok streets/
Not just in houses with our bible's summrizing what we read/
Man this aint deep (man this aint deep)/why we aint doing what we read/
Its like we sleep (its like we sleep)/
But sinners sleepwalk when they sleep/
So why can't we (so why can't we)/the redeemed of the LORD/
Act out, what He said/and make a scene for the LORD/
Action-cut, say what, like we was the director/
But you better get a Grip like movie sets, and get to stepping/(Martin)
I know you done it/da-done it, da-done-and heard it all
You was going hard for the Lord before you heard this song/
But don't play yourself to save ya self/and walk in fear/
Scripture's like a mirror/the truth is closer than it appears/

Father thank you for sisters who understand your struggle. I feel alone as a woman many times and though I TRUST that you are ALWAYS there it is even more sweeter to know that you have provided gals that are walking the same FAITH I am. Thank you for you constant sanctification, love and grace. I even thank you for sisters who are not in the same season as I am, for they are just as important. What grace to have a community of believers to encourage, wound and comfort you.
Amen.

Practice,Practice,Practice

"Try being a person who sacrificially gives of yourself—without the offering being accompanied by gratitude—and you’ll find every ounce of joy drained dry by a martyr complex."

I have been meditating on this quote for the past couple of days now. I must confess, thankfulness have not been my hearts attitude. I was reading a chapter out of a book that says that when we give in to whining, murmuring, and complaining, we end up on a destructive slide that ultimately leads to bitterness and broken relationships. Sad to say, I have experienced them both.
One of the things I was reminded of today was that a righteous lifestyle involves labor.
The bible gives many admonitions to support this statement...

Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives' tales; rather, train yourself to be godly 1Timothy 4:7

And you shall keep My statutes, and perform them:(or practice as some translations say) I am the LORD who sanctifies you. Leviticus 20:8

For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the Law of the LORD, and to do it, and to teach statutes and ordinances in Israel. Ezra 7:10

How blessed are those who keep justice, Who practice righteousness at all times!
Psalm 106:3

The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
Phillipians 4:9

Many times, I look around at other wives involved in ministry and wonder..."how in the world do they do it?" Now..I know apart from God's grace none of us can do a thing. But, I am wanting to know practically how is this lived out. How in the world are you homeschooling, showing hospitality, loving your husband, loving your children, then turn around and give your life away to those on the outside WITHOUT COMPLAINING ALL THE TIME? In other words..."how is it that some people are more godly than another?? "

Well, from what I have learned today its because they PRACTICE THE TRUTH THAT THEY HAVE LEARNED. It's just not enough for me to hear the TRUTH. I must practice it at all times. Sometimes, I do...sometimes I don't. It seems to happen the most during those difficult times. It's like all the scripture I know goes out of the window. I know...shame....

But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was. But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does.

I want to be known as a thankful person. I want it to be so to where my godliness in this area (all areas for that matter!!!) is habitual. I want to be that woman that I read about the other day who is a grateful breath of fresh air in a world contaminated by bitterness and discontentment....the person whose gratitude is a byproduct of and a response to the redeeming grace of God that showcase the heart of the gospel in a way that is winsome and compelling.
My goodness... I am learning how to choose gratitude and for that I am thankful!!

Hospitality Incentive By Nicole Whitacre

Today we return to a question we’ve left hanging for a few weeks: How do we practice hospitality cheerfully instead of begrudgingly?

We remember the why: We practice hospitality because we have first received hospitality.

“Grace is the hospitality of God to welcome sinners not because of their goodness but because of his glory,” explains John Piper:

“The ultimate act of hospitality was when Jesus Christ died for sinners to make everyone who believes a member of the household of God. We are no longer strangers and sojourners. We have come home to God. Everybody who trusts in Jesus finds a home in God.”

If we have trusted in Jesus, we have found a home in God. We were once strangers, alienated from God because of our sin. But through the suffering of Jesus Christ, we have been brought near to God. We are not strangers anymore.

We have received the ultimate act of hospitality! How can we not, in turn, show grace and love to others by extending hospitality to strangers?

When we truly understand the gospel, the amazing, undeserved love that has been shown to us, we will find a powerful incentive to show hospitality that will conquer every hindrance or reluctance. Reflecting upon Christ’s lavish hospitality will compel us to joyfully show hospitality to one another.

Hear My Cry Oh Lord

Lord, you are good. I have to remind myself that every waking moment of my time here on earth.
I have to remind myself and know with every part of my being ...
O LORD God Almighty, who is like you? You are mighty, O LORD, and your faithfulness surrounds you

Yes...you are mighty...MIGHTY enough to bear the burdens of young girl who has to be a mom at 17 to her younger sister because of her mothers negligence. MIGHTY...... enough to save and transform the heart of the 19 year old who's identity is found in the men she date and the lifestyle they offer her....MIGHTY enough to give peace and rest to the child who has to live with seeing his murdered mother in a casket at the age of 9. MIGHTY enough to comfort the brother who had to witness the gruesome murders of his two sisters. MIGHTY enough to overpower a system that does not take care of the poor but exploits and robs them of the dignity they were created in.... Oh God, how we need you.I need you, my neighbors need you. We desire for you to visit this place...we desire to see you high and lifted up just as Isaiah did in all your splendor and glory. Please show the depressed widow your love. Show the orphans your faithfulness. I am so thankful that you are the same GOD you have been in the past...The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. BUT...we confess you are JUST.. not leaving the guilty unpunished... punishing the children and their children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation.

Please send a REVIVAL to our hood, to our homes, to the church abroad!!!! Break down all walls...break up all follow ground.

Hear my cry for mercy as I call to you for help, as I lift up my hands toward your Most Holy Place. -Psalm 28:2

Life In The Building-Part 1

To Whom Much Is Given Much Is Required

Well, we are in our NEW building and the beginning of activities has begun! As exciting as that sounds..things are a bit overwhelming I must say. With a new building comes MUCH responsibility. While we love the fact that there are many kids in the building, many are coming who have no intentions to be apart of bible study or tutoring. They are walking in from off of the streets to cause trouble or just to eat and hang out. Would you pray that the LORD gives the staff wisdom on how to handle such situations. Pray for me as well as the girls I minister to. The girls in our community are having a serious IDENTITY CRISIS. I have been praying earnestly to the LORD to use us all to reach them, or for HIM to bring many others from other places to reach them as well. Outside of my door is so much destruction and sadness that it could really drive you into a serious, serious, life of depression. Every Wednesday I will be teaching two bible studies to a group of girls ranging from 6-11 years of age. I am begging you to pray to the LORD of the Harvest to break up the follow ground in the hearts of these girls. Pray with me that I decrease and that the LORD increase so much more. Pray that these girls would see the beauty of the cross and their need for a Savior.

If You Build It...They Will Come!!!

This past Wednesday, we officially opened the doors to our new ministry space. Today, there were a total of 95 kids in attendance!! 95!!!! There was no doubt in our minds that, kids would be drawn to this new place. Uh, I just don't think we were expecting that many! Praise the LORD, Praise the LORD!
I get choked up because these kids are not on the streets causing trouble. From 3:30pm-5:30pm they are involved in tutoring, a little indoor basketball and on wednesday, we break up into small groups for bible study.

To walk around the ministry building and hear and see them talking about how exciting it is to FINALLY be in there, just brings so much joy to my heart. I not only get to witness Gods faithfulness to these kids, but I get to talk/share with them just who this faithful God is and the love He has for them!

I am sooo amazed!!
